Wet and windy, but the Christmas Market and carols around the Christmas tree still drew a great crowd!
One year on…. Keren and Stu celebrated their first anniversary at the Calleva with a great party to music from the Reptiles.
Armistice Day, Silchester School Years 5 and 6 at the War Memorial.
Remembrance Sunday at the War Memorial gathered the largest crowd in recent times. This was followed by a reception in the school hall to present Ken with gifts from the village.
After a very wet day, the weather was perfect for the Silchester Association bonfire and fireworks.

A fairly quiet Halloween this year.
18 October, One World Sunday, school and church come together and celebrate their links with Swaziland.
Early October and a busy weekend with “the Singer and the Song” an evening with Robin Scott providing superb entertainment, as always, on Friday 2 October. On Saturday the Bishop of Basingstoke David Williams, and the Mayor Anne Court joined Ken Batt and his family to celebrate his 44 years of ministry before he retires next month. On Sunday the parish boundary walk, organised jointly by Silchester Association and the village church, had a surprise visit from Richard and Robina to see them on their way, led by Howard Wilkinson this year.
Time for a bit of catch-up! 12 September saw the Fifth Silchester Beer Festival take place in the Village Hall. This was followed on Sunday by the Dig Open Day, (pictures from Insula III), and Heritage Open Day with bell demonstration at St Mary’s. Two new village ventures are a pop-up bakery on Wednesdays, and a pop-up cafe in the pavilion on Fridays - cafe hours already extended to open early at 9.00am.
The Bank Holiday picnic was beaten by the traditional Bank Holiday weather.
For the Fourth year a very successful Holiday Club for youngsters took place at the beginning of school holidays
11 July saw a welcome visit by the Kingsclere Singers and their talented young guests
Welcome back to the Kennet Morris Men making one of their regular visits to the village on 6 July
Fete 2015 - a great afternoon for a huge crowd with the weather being kind!
School leavers’ Prom - Hurst pupils depart in style for their big night out!
The Annual Silchester’s Got Talent was won by the Dreisteins with an update of Tom Lehrer’s Periodic Table of the elements
June Miscellany - the Phoenix Club gathered for lunch at the Calleva, Fete organisers’ ‘thank you’ drinks and nibbles, Commons Working Party helpers barbeque on the Common and finally a packed Village Hall finding out more about the management of the Common.

A wet Palm Sunday procession completed a busy weekend for the village. Over 60 people took part, despite the rain, with Alfie the donkey and our Roman Legionary friends with the leadership of Richard Harlow.
Saturday 28 March and the first Silchester Art Exhibition provided a well supported showcase for nine local artists in the Village Hall.
Friday 27 March the village welcomed back Professor Mike Fulford with a packed Village Hall to hear the latest on 2014, the end of the Insula IX project and of plans for further historical work.
Mothering Sunday saw a joyful gathering in church with the customary distribution of flowers.
6 March and the school marked Fair Trade Fortnight with an exhibition of their work with some very tasty goodies to share. Each class presented their work to assembled parents and governors while younger visitors were entertained by face painting.
4 March and our local star Robin Scott exercised his talent to entertain the Phoenix Club.
13 February and a gathering of many of the village volunteer groups shared details of their activities in the community so that all might gain a better understanding of just what goes on.
