…. and also going on…Fire Engine charity pull A wet Palm Sunday procession completed a busy weekend for the village. Over 60 people took part, despite the rain, with Alfie the donkey and our Roman Legionary friends with the leadership of Richard Harlow. Saturday 28 March and the first Silchester Art Exhibition provided a well supported showcase for nine local artists in the Village Hall. Friday 27 March the village welcomed back Professor Mike Fulford with a packed Village Hall to hear the latest on 2014, the end of the Insula IX project and of plans for further historical work. Mothering Sunday saw a joyful gathering in church with the customary distribution of flowers. 6 March and the school marked Fair Trade Fortnight with an exhibition of their work with some very tasty goodies to share. Each class presented their work to assembled parents and governors while younger visitors were entertained by face painting. 4 March and our local star Robin Scott exercised his talent to entertain the Phoenix Club. 13 February and a gathering of many of the village volunteer groups shared details of their activities in the community so that all might gain a better understanding of just what goes on. 1 February -Education Sunday and pupils from Silchester School share their work in church. A dismal day to start 2015 but we had our now traditional visit from the Kennet Morris Men to entertain at the Calleva.
